Shayaa Joseph (born c. 1994),[1] known professionally as 21 Savage, is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia.

On November 12, 2014, Joseph’s debut single, “Picky”, produced by DJ Plugg, was released. It was later released on his debut mixtape, The Slaughter Tape, released on May 25, 2015.[2] The same day, the track and a music video for Joseph’s “Red Rag, Blue Rag” was released. June 19, 2015, the music video for “Skrrt Skrrt”, produced by Fukk 12 Nightingale, was released. On September 3, 2015, the music video for “Million Dollar Liq”, featuring ManManSavage and produced by Fukk 12, was released. On October 9, 2015, the music video for “Whoa”, produced by Zaytoven, was released.

On July 2, 2015, Joseph released a collaborative EP, Free Guwop, with Sonny Digital.[3] It is a tribute EP to fellow rapper and influence Gucci Mane. On October 15, 2015, the track and music video for “Air It Out”, featuring Young Nudy and produced by Zaytoven, was released. On December 1, 2015, 21 Savage released his second mixtape, Slaughter King.[4] On December 2, 2015, the music video for the KD Beatz produced “Dirty K” off of Slaughter King was released.

On February 8, 2016, the music video for “Supply” off of Free Guwop was released. On March 22, 2016, the track “Oh Ok”, produced by Zaytoven, was released. On March 29, 2016, the track “Red Opps” was released. On April 1, 2016, the music video for “Dip Dip” off of Slaughter King was released. On April 12, 2016, the track “One Foot” was released. On May 13, 2016, the track “21 Way” was released. On May 24, 2016, the track “Trappin’ After Dark” was released.

On June 13, 2016, XXL Magazine released the 2016 Freshmen line-up. It included 21 Savage, along with Anderson .Paak, Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Dicky, Dave East, Denzel Curry, Desiigner, G Herbo, and Lil Yachty.

On July 15, 2016, 21 Savage released a collaborative EP with Metro Boomin called Savage Mode.
